Roxy won’t have to use the stapler after all…our terrific nanny got those “Try It” badges and petals ironed on and sewn onto London and Maddie’s Brownie and Daisy vests just in time… Rex, London, Maddie and I are off to see High School Musical On Stage! with London’s entire Brownie troop later this month at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, New Jersey. As the promotional pieces suggest, we’re going to experience the hit musical sensation that’s sweepin the nation at this exuberant, clever and totally entertaining show, based on the Disney Channel original movie.

Directed by Mark S. Hoebee, starring Sydney Morton & Chase Peacock, and reuniting choreographer Denis Jones & Bailey Hanks, this production promises to be a great time for teens, tweens and anyone who remembers the triumphs and challenges of high school. While London and Maddie can’t wait to see one of their favorite Disney movies brought to life, I have to admit that I am always surprised at the wide age range of High School Musical and Disney Channel fans. Our teenage babysitters truly seem to look forward to joining our first and second graders to watch Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, and the Wildcats in the two DVDs, and fans of all ages have hit the theatres for Disney’s High School Musical 3. I’m always a fan of people-watching, and I’ll be interested to see what the crowd looks like at the Paper Mill Playhouse for High School Musical On Stage!

I received a reminder postcard from Paper Mill Playhouse, letting me know that High School Musical On Stage! opens on Wednesday, November 5th and runs through Sunday, December 7th. Many of the weekend matinees are sold out, but you can still call the Paper Mill Playhouse Box Office at (973) 376-4343 or order tickets online for most performances.

Roxy, are you going to see this? If so, let me know how it is. I’ve seen a bunch of shows at Paper Mill, and sometimes they’re really good and sometimes they’re just okay. And several times, I walked out after the first act…

    Henson,

Yes…Rex, London, Maddie and I are all going to see High School Musical at Paper Mill Playhouse with London’s Brownie (Girl Scout) troop…we’ll definitely report back after the performance, which is on a Sunday in the middle of the show’s run at PaperMlll, so there will still be time for you to get your tickets.

We’ve not seen a lot of performances at PaperMill, but the ones we did see were excellent: Cinderella a couple of years back, and the Nutcracker last Christmastime.

    Henson (and other loyal readers)
Too sleepy tonight to post London and Maddie’s review of this afternoon’s performance of High School Musical On Stage at Paper Mill Playhouse, but the girls, Rex and I, along with the rest of London’s Brownie troop, really enjoyed ourselves. I’ve already seen an extremely negative review from Peter Filichia at the Star-Ledger, but he clearly hated Disney’s High School Musical concept from the git-go. I know you’re a big Disney fan, but don’t know if you’ve seen the Disney Channel movie(s)…in a nutshell, think modern-day Grease with a G rating.
